Background

Following a degree in European Languages, Culture and Society, Tamzin worked as marketing assistant at a French luxury goods company, then as an executive PA followed by a stint in secretarial recruitment and finally as an estate agent. Looking around houses on a daily basis revealed her passion for interior design.

While studying for a diploma at the KLC School of Design, Tamzin temped as a PA at several London design firms, including a busy design and build company in Victoria where she successfully applied for a job as their Design Assistant. Assisting the director on showcase office spaces for legal, accountancy and media firms, she was thrown in at the deep end with meeting design briefs, presenting these at client pitches and then ensuring the visual aspects of the build remained true to the design brief as budgets and timings tightened further into the project.

Tamzin set up Heliotrope Design in 2005 applying the same attention to detail, design and budget to clients homes as previously to offices in the commercial sector. She moved to the Test Valley in 2007 and the company is now based near Andover. Tamzin is as happy working on smaller projects (room designs andfabric/furniture sourcing and house restyling) as on large scale refurbishments. In 2010, Heliotrope Design set up a studio, now open by appointment in Abbotts Ann.
